We are a are small friendly volunteer club situated in Aughton about two miles south of Ormskirk in West Lancashire. This blog gives up to date information about news and events at Town Green for both members and anyone interested in playing tennis. It supplements our Club website with additional club information and the occasional tennis trivia – so please take a moment to browse and enjoy.
Seniors play on over winter
Even though summer is rapidly becoming a distant memory, tennis is still very much on the agenda with our hardy seniors still playing twice a week at Winifred Lane. They meet on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 10 to 12 pm. and new members are always welcome.
If you are aged 65 or over why not consider a senior membership and joining them for a twice weekly friendly tennis session?

Spring Tournament in photos
American Tournament Sunday May 5th
As usual Julian will be organising the early season American tournament for members. This is great way to enjoy a full afternoon of tennis as the format rotates partners during the competition and each player can expect 5 or 6 games.New members are especially welcome to come along..

First TGTC club night
First Club night is typically the first social evening of the season where members start the new season with some tennis and food afterwards in the pavilion

Mens first team prepare for league
Last Thursday the mens first team began preparation for a new season with a brisk practice at Winifred Lane. A fine evening saw some full-on tennis with no holding back!
The team will once again be playing in the B division of the Liverpool and District Tennis Group where the level of competitive tennis is very strong.
Matt Birchall the mens first team Captain was hoping for a another successful year. Mens practice will be held every Thursday evening at 6.15 pm until the season starts.
First Junior morning – off to a great start !
The first Saturday Junior coaching morning of the new season got off to a great start with blue skies and fine weather. The first session for 5 to 8 year olds was to improve tennis skills and have fun hitting some balls. The second session starting at 11.30 saw older juniors enjoying improving their tennis skills in a match situation.
Bill Dow, our Club Coach who runs the sessions described the weather as being “glorious” and that it was an excellent start to the season. These sessions run from April to October and are also open to non members.The details can be found by clicking here
Reminder : Wednesday 10th April is the last day for Bill’s April Junior Summer Camp. The weather looks to be absolutely brilliant. Starts 1pm !

Junior Coaching – starts this Saturday
The Clocks go forward and everyone knows that the tennis season now starts in earnest! The junior coaching at the Club is not left behind and we are pleased to announce that Bill Dow’s popular Saturday morning coaching will begin this Saturday the 6th of April at the Winifred Lane Courts. As usual there will be two sessions for different age groups.
10.30 – 11.30 for 5 to 8 year olds
11.30 – 12.30 for 9 to 13 year olds
Also, the first of Bill’s popular junior tennis camps will run from 8 – 10 April between 1pm and 4pm. These are great fun and a very enjoyable way to learn and play the game.
Both the Saturday mornings and camps will be run by Bill Dow our long time Community Tennis Coach. These are open to all with pay on the day. You do not need to be a member to attend.
